Christmas

In my opinion it is a magical time of the year. It means happiness and a time to be with your dear ones. I absolutely love Christmas!
Decorating the whole house for Christmas is a big tradition in countries like Norway and Spain.
Norwegians like their decorations to have a 'home-made' quality. These are some of the objects they use to decorate their homes with: table clothes, cushions, curtains, lights, crockery and wreaths.
Each country celebrates Christmas in different ways and Spain is not an exception. The most beautiful Cribs are set up in churches and people go on thronging every church in Málaga to view and compare the navity scenes. The other Spanish Christmas decorations include Santa Claus, wooden toys, glass bulbs, stars and candles.

My Frankenstein's project

In this term, we have read a horror book called Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. In class, our teacher asked us questions about the different chapters in the book. We also have done two questionnaires from the Internet and a reading test. Finally, Noelia, Mario and myself have investigated about the life of Mary Shelley, we have written the information in a powerpoint and we have recorded a video representing 'The wedding night'.

Thanksgiving

First at all, I have to say that I am a very lucky girl.
I am thankful for being healthy and having a wonderful family. They support me and help me every time I need it. I love them very much!
I am also thankful for having fantastic friends. They are cheerful, honest, reliable and sympathetic. I enjoy a lot with them because they always make me laugh.
Finally, I want to give thanks to all my teachers. They have taught me that with a persistent attitude we can get anything we want.

My favourite film

Last summer I went to the cinema with some friends and we watched a terror film called 'Expediente Warren'. The film was about two paranormal investigators. They worked to help a family frightened about a dark presence in their new house.
At the end we were very scared but we like this kind of films, so I enjoyed a lot!

Poppy Day

Each year in November, thousands of veterans hit the streets of the Capital for London Poppy Day. A national ceremony takes place at the Cenotaph in Whitehall, London. Here is where the Queen lays the first wreath at the Cenotaph:

The poppy reminds us of sacrifices made – both past and present.
Poppies were the first flowers that grew in the battlefields of Flanders in Belgium during World War One and are a symbol of remembrance and hope.

Ice box

This week our teacher wants us to practise the verb used to and we have watched this video:

This is a love story about a couple. The boy missed his girlfriend because he was not honest. He was denying the truth, lying and blaming her. After that, the girl changed, she was not the same person and they could not stop fighting. Now, he feels so sad and still loves her.

About myself

Hello! Welcome to my blog in English!

My name is Gema, I am fourteen years old and I am from an amazing city: Málaga. I am studying at IES Portada Alta in a bilingual course and I am in my last year of secondary school.
I am learning English because I think it is a beautiful language and I love it! We have a great opportunity and we must take advantage of it. My favourite subjects are Biology and Maths. I like them because they are so interesting.
My friends are fantastic! They are cheerful, honest, reliable and sympathetic. We are always together and I enjoy a lot with them.
I have a brother called Alex. He lives in Cádiz with his girlfriend, but we visit him twice a month.
My hobbies are listening to pop music, traveling and reading (especially books about love and terror).
My favourite TV programme is 'El hormiguero'. It is focused on comedy and science. I like it because it is really funny and original.
I am responsible, generous, competitive and a very hardworking person. I like learning everyday!
In the future I will go to University and I will be a Psychiatrist.

I hope you enjoy reading this blog!
